Rehabilitation for Elbow Dysplasia
Introduction
Jasper is a three-year-old Golden Retriever and has been attending Snowy’s for over two years to help maintain his mobility and support his diagnosis of severe bilateral Elbow Dysplasia. Alongside regular LASER, Hydrotherapy and Physiotherapy sessions following on from surgery, Jasper has also had Stem Cell treatment to help aid with the changes we are able to see through the elbow joint themselves.
Jasper very much enjoys his sessions with us. He is a kind-hearted soul and is nothing but happy upon his visits to the centre. His positive attitude and willingness to participate in his treatments contribute to the success of his therapy programme.
Treatment Plan
The combination of LASER therapy, Hydrotherapy, Physiotherapy, and Stem Cell treatment offers a multi-modal approach to address his condition and support his mobility.
LASER Therapy:
- Pain Management: LASER therapy can help reduce pain and inflammation associated with Elbow Dysplasia, improving Jasper's comfort and quality of life.
- Tissue Healing: LASER therapy can also promote tissue healing and reduce scar tissue formation, supporting post-surgical recovery and overall joint health.
Hydrotherapy and Physiotherapy:
- Mobility Maintenance: Hydrotherapy and Physiotherapy sessions can help maintain and improve Jasper's mobility, strengthening the muscles around the affected joints and supporting better range of motion.
- Gait Improvement: These therapies can assist in correcting and maintaining a proper gait, reducing strain on the elbows and minimizing further joint damage.
Stem Cell Treatment:
- Joint Health: Stem Cell treatment aims to promote healing and regeneration within the damaged elbow joints, potentially slowing down the progression of Elbow Dysplasia and improving joint function.
- Long-term Benefits: By addressing the changes within the elbow joints, Stem Cell treatment may provide long-term benefits for Jasper's mobility and comfort.
Progress and Outcome
Jasper continues to visit us on a weekly basis to enjoy the treatments that we can offer him to support longevity of mobility throughout his daily activities. He continues to enjoy life to the fullest and remains comfortable with a combination of owner management and Snowy’s support. Jasper continues to enjoy walks and family life with his other doggie friend too.
Conclusion
By combining these various treatments and therapies, Snowy’s is providing Jasper with a tailored and holistic approach to managing his Elbow Dysplasia and supporting his overall well-being.
